The route gives a unique sea view of the five villages of the Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site largely inaccessible by car. Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore are best seen from the water — terraced vineyards above the sea, pastel houses stacked on the cliffs.
The sailing area covers the Gulf of Poets, named for the inspiration it gave literary figures such as Byron and Shelley.
