Corporate yachting for law firms

Leading international law firms and regional business-law firms choose sailing formats for partner retention, client development and strategic retreats. Confidentiality, precision on dietary needs, a clear schedule — the managing partner's assistant briefs us once, and everything runs itself from there.

Pains and objectives

Why this industry chooses corporate sailing

  • 01

    Partner retention

Senior partners choose between the annual retreat and an individual sabbatical. A regatta under the firm's flag makes the first option meaningful.

  • 02

    The billable-hours trade-off

Each retreat day costs 8-12 billable hours per partner. The offsite has to justify that with the quality of the programme — otherwise it becomes politically untenable.

  • 03

    Client cultivation

GCs and the senior counsel of clients don't attend marketing dinners. A regatta with a client mix is the only way to get 8 hours of informal time without a script.

  • 04

    Confidentiality at the maximum

A public LinkedIn trail of attendees is an incident. We don't publish client names, the route never appears on our social channels, and the crew is under NDA with a criminal-record check.

  • 05

    Logistics for 60-120 partners

The magic is not in one yacht — it's in eight yachts arriving at the right marina at the same time and heading to one restaurant for dinner without a scramble. That is our core competence.

What we do

An industry-specific programme · Law firms

Law firms are our most discerning client category, and we love it. The standard project is a legal cup or its equivalent: 60-100 partners from 8-15 offices of a global firm, 3 days of regatta under NDA, a closing dinner ashore. The managing partner's assistant briefs us once — after that we work directly with the operations team, with no need to trouble the partners.

Confidentiality is an operational norm, not a marketing bullet point. We don't publish the names of legal clients, the route never appears on social channels, and the crew signs an NDA with a criminal-record check. Optionally, there is a secret-base programme where even the team doesn't know the arrival country until 48 hours before departure. It's needed less often than you'd think, but we can do it.

The programme is matched to the makeup of the group. Large international firms like the traditional racing format with scoring and serious awards at the closing dinner. Boutique firms prefer an exploration cruise that leans on dinners and long conversations. A regular regatta for an American firm is a different programme from one for a French boutique. We understand that.

Dietary needs are a story of their own. When a single flotilla carries kosher, halal, a severe shellfish allergy, gluten-free, low-FODMAP and vegan, every dish has to be tagged. Our standard is to request the dietary list 6 weeks before departure, so on the day of the trip the right food is on each participant's plate without anyone having to ask. That is the level of detail an experienced managing partner's assistant recognises in a minute.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is confidentiality maintained?

The standard package: a crew NDA, a background check, a no-social-media policy, and no names in our publications. Optionally, a programme with a hidden base location. All 12 legal regattas have run under NDA.

Can clients be invited without breaching independence rules?

It depends on the jurisdiction and the type of relationship. A client-cultivation regatta is usually structured as reasonable hospitality (the business purpose is documented, the invoice is split). We don't give legal advice — but we do provide documentation your compliance team will accept.

How much does a regatta for 80 partners cost?

From €2,800 per partner for 3 days (yacht, crew, racing coach, scoring, marina fees, full board, closing dinner). For large international firms it is usually €4,500-5,500 per partner. An exact quote follows an introductory call.

Which format suits a firm centenary or anniversary?

A large format: 80-120 partners, a flagship yacht for the managing partner and founders, an exclusive villa for the closing dinner. We ran a centenary for a large international firm in Cannes 2025 — the case is available under NDA after a call.

What about partners with specific needs (mobility, dietary)?

Every yacht has an accessibility brief 6 weeks ahead. If someone has a mobility impairment we offer a shore-based programme parallel to the sailing track. The dietary list is collected 6 weeks ahead and every dish is tagged on the buffet.
