Sailing Teambuilding
The Atlantic marina of Cascais with the blue-and-white Santa Marta lighthouse and sailing yachts under a dramatic sunset sky
Portugal · Cascais

Corporate yachting in Cascais.

Cascais is Portugal's answer to the French Riviera. Marina de Cascais, 30 minutes from Lisbon's LIS airport, is one of the leading regatta centres in Europe and a regular stop on the professional TP52 and RC44 tours. It is a place of genuine sailing conditions: an average summer wind of 15 to 20 knots, a swell of 1 to 2 metres, and a combination of the sheltered Tagus estuary with the open Atlantic Ocean.

Cascais's main sailing value is that it has hosted sailing world championships and regularly features on international charter tours. For serious corporate regattas it is the best location in Europe after Mallorca: predictable Atlantic conditions, excellent infrastructure, and none of the Mediterranean's crowding.

Cabo da Roca — the westernmost point of mainland Europe — gives a unique hero visual for a sailing programme. An approach to the cape with drone filming is one of the most memorable frames in our clients' annual reports. The baseline range of €400 to €650 per person per night is 25 to 30 % cheaper than comparable Mediterranean locations at the same service level.

What makes it different

Why Cascais

Three facts our routes are built on. Every data point is verified and drawn from our validated destinations dataset.

The location offers a unique combination of sheltered sailing in the Tagus estuary and the demanding conditions of the open Atlantic Ocean.

  • 03

Routes include views of Cabo da Roca — the westernmost point of mainland Europe — and the dramatic coast of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.

The gastronomy programme in Cascais and Lisbon offers the best value for money among our European locations. Michelin restaurants such as Belcanto in Lisbon (two stars), Mar do Inferno in Cascais or Eleven in Lisbon (one star) cost 40 % less than their Côte d'Azur equivalents at a comparable level. For incentive programmes that is a strong advantage.

Sintra — a UNESCO site 30 minutes from Cascais — gives a unique narrative asset. The Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca and the palaces of the royal forest are a 17th to 19th-century setting for private dinners with a chef and a tasting of local wines (Setúbal, Bairrada). We plan the programme as a half-day excursion with a return to the yachts by sunset.

A regatta with the TP52 class running parallel to our corporate flotilla is a unique visual asset. The drone footage went into the LinkedIn campaign and became the most popular post of the quarter.

FAQ

What buyers ask us most.

Eight questions we receive every week from HR directors and CEOs. Not finding yours? Drop us a line — we reply within 24 hours.

Why choose Cascais for a corporate regatta?
Three reasons: genuine Atlantic sailing conditions (for serious regattas), the best value-to-quality ratio in Europe (25 to 30 % cheaper than the Mediterranean at a comparable level), and excellent logistics from Lisbon. It suits teams who want an impressive sailing experience without paying a premium for fame.
When is the best time?
From May to October. The peak is June, July and September. August works too, but Portuguese holidays can complicate restaurant bookings. International regattas run in September (the TP52 World Championship), which gives a good context for corporate programmes.
How much does a programme in Cascais cost?
From €400 per person per night. The price includes the yacht, skipper, marina fees, basic catering and insurance. Premium Michelin-level catering adds €60 to €100 per person per day. Regatta programmes with branded sails run €500 to €650 per person.
Is it suitable for large groups?
Yes — Marina de Cascais handles flotillas of up to 15 yachts (about 90 people) with no trouble. For larger groups we use additional berths at Marina de Oeiras (10 minutes east). IRC handicap rules, racing in the Tagus estuary or the open ocean as you choose.
What is the language of service?
English at level 5 of 5 is standard for all crews, marina officers and destination management companies. French, Spanish and German are also common. Russian-speaking support is arranged on request six weeks ahead of the programme.
